In our blog we inform you about the latest news from Gran Canaria.
Living and working where others go on holiday? A long-held dream by many people, which has now become reality for many. In the past winter season, many came to the island to work from our beautiful Canary Island of Gran Canaria. The topic and the discussions around the terms "home office" and "digitalisation" have changed a lot, because many self-employed people, employees and also employers now like to use the new situation to reinterpret the workplace.
Companies have recognised great potential for savings, because office space, especially in big cities, is very expensive. Those who now get up at 6:00 a.m. in the winter and have to drive to the office in damp, cold weather in central europe, will generally not be bursting with motivation. The people on public transport look like an uncomfortable winter's day, dressed in mousy grey, their mood in the cellar and, on top of that, annoyed by Corona. But does it really have to be like this? More and more people are clearly saying "NO", not with me.
I would like to say at the outset that not everyone can come to the island to work from here. Be it because of the children, the partner, parents in need of care or whatever circumstances. However, studies show very clearly that there are more and more single households and for them the home office in Gran Canaria can be an excellent alternative, especially after Corona. After all, working from home will continue to be desired and recommended in the future, because the savings, as already mentioned, are enormous. Moreover, motivated and committed employees are a great added value for every single company.
Why am I actually so sure that working from the Canaries is a real advantage? Quite simply because many people who practise it in this way have told me so. No matter whether in Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín, Meloneras or in whichever region, the day begins with glorious sunshine and temperatures of around 20 degrees. The steel-blue Atlantic Ocean, the dunes of Maspalomas and the endless sandy beaches provide certainty for a well-deserved evening in wonderful nature and surroundings. You will clear your head and start the next working day well rested, a beautiful sunset with a delicious drink or dinner with a fantastic sea view should motivate you additionally. We all know that good moods can be contagious, but so can bad moods. People are certainly in a much better mood here than in cold, damp Germany, Austria or Switzerland. You can't always generalise, but most people will probably agree with me. The people who spend their holidays on Gran Canaria have not been forced to do so, they enjoy their holidays here because they simply love the island, because besides our great weather, GC simply has a lot to offer. By the way, Gran Canaria also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine, the island has many great restaurants, please read the previous blog entry from 11.04.2021.
Very important is the topic of internet, which still frustrates people in many countries in europe, looks much better here. Many facilities, flats, houses and regions now have fast fibre-optic internet, which makes for excellent working conditions. Whether webmasters, clerks, project managers, managers, marketing jobs, insurance agents, influencers, writers, journalists, telephone service and many other professions now work from Gran Canaria.
Most newcomers first rent a flat, bungalow or house for a certain period of time, others buy a property directly. The criteria for accommodation and the financial possibilities are, as always, wide-ranging. Whichever direction you are leaning towards, feel free to let us know, we look forward to a pleasant cooperation.
The rental prices vary, of course, depending on the size of the property, location, condition, furnishings and the fact whether water, electricity and internet are already included in the rental price. When renting, a monthly rent deposit as well as a monthly rent broker's fee plus 7% I.G.I.C (Canarian VAT) are added. In the case of a possible purchase, of course, there are also the ancillary purchase costs. For more information on buying a property in Gran Canaria, please click here:
