Beautiful impressions from today's Sunday excursion
Today's Sunday excursion followed by a wonderful walk around Santa Lucia and La Sorrueda was fantastic and is really highly recommended. Maybe the beautiful pictures will convince you, the island is currently wonderfully green and it smells like spring.
I drove from Maspalomas via Fataga on the GC-60 in the direction of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, past various barbecue areas and pine trees, I turned off the GC-60 onto the GC-65 in the direction of Santa Lucia de Tirajana. In Hoya Grande I made the second stop to look for a finca, which is on sale at Sun World Immobilien. If anyone is interested in a house priced at 210,000€ on about 3,000 sqm of land in the mountains, it is property number 2217.
From there I drove on, after about 15 minutes I reached Santa Lucia, the pretty village is located at about 700 metres altitude, the community has a total of about 73,000 inhabitants. It is really worth exploring, there are several good restaurants (which are open) and typical Canarian architecture with the pretty church in the village centre. Various hiking trails allow you to leave civilisation behind and immerse yourself in Canarian nature, which is what I did in the end and continued on foot to "La Sorrueda", passing green meadows, dreamlike vegetation and detached fincas.
As this was my first time in this little paradise, I was really impressed by the oasis I found. After about 4 km of walking, it was time for a culinary reward and I stopped at the great grill restaurant "El Alprende de Félix", as it had been very busy, I had to wait a little while, but that was perfectly fine. I ordered delicious prawns in hot garlic oil, Canarian potatoes with garlic sauce and a small grilled chicken. Everything was delicious, the staff friendly and the place clean, as it should be.
After the meal, of course, the calories had to be burnt off again and we walked the approx. 4 kilometres back to the car. As the sun disappeared behind the graceful mountain range, it became quite fresh as the temperatures dropped from around 21 degrees to 14 degrees in no time at all, which is of course normal at around 800 metres altitude and in the winter months.
So if you want to buy a finca or house in the mountains on Gran Canaria or in the municipality of Santa Lucia, you will find breathtaking nature and above all tranquillity in many places.
It was a great trip, via Vecindario and the GC-1 motorway I drove back towards home, to Maspalomas. It was a great day to escape all the negative news around Corona and to live the former normality. I hope you like the photos and impressions of the tour.
Evening greetings from Gran Canaria.
